Voting Commences for General Election

More than 44 million people registered to vote in the general election have now started to cast their votes.


Polling stations all over the country opened this morning at 0700 and people are able to cast votes until 2200.


Not only are voters picking MPs for Westminster, voters are electing local authority councillors accross England.


Voting will take place in 649 constituencies with almost 4,150 candidates standing for election.


Most constituencies will count votes overnight, while around 20 are not due to count until around 0900 on Friday.
